In the first decade of June 2026, representatives of the CFive analytical center under Astana International University participated in a series of international expert events in Italy and Poland dedicated to discussing political and institutional transformations in the Republic of Kazakhstan. The central theme of the discussions was the implementation of constitutional reforms and their impact on the further modernization of public administration and the socio-political system of the country.
On June 3, in Rome, an international conference titled "Constitutional Reforms in Kazakhstan" was held in the Senate building of the Italian Republic, organized at the initiative of the Italian Institute for Asia (ISIA). The event brought together representatives of European political and expert circles, including Giuseppina Princi, Chair of the European Parliament Delegation for relations with Central Asian countries; Francesco Failla, Coordinator of the C5+1 ministerial meeting format of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Italy; Senator Andrea Trevisi; Yerbolat Sembayev, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Italy; as well as the leadership of ISIA. The CFive analytical center was represented by its head, Sapargali Shalgimbaev.
During the discussions, participants highly commended the ongoing reforms in Kazakhstan, emphasizing their consistent, comprehensive, and institutionally oriented nature. Special attention was paid to the redistribution of powers between the branches of government, the strengthening of political accountability mechanisms, and the expansion of citizen participation in decision-making processes. The growing role of Kazakhstan as a stable and predictable partner in Central Asia was also highlighted, which further enhances the interest of European states, including Italy, in developing political and economic cooperation with Astana.
On June 8, in Warsaw, an international roundtable titled "Constitutional Reforms in Kazakhstan: Pathways of Development and State Transformation" was held at the invitation of the Polish think tank, The Opportunity Institute for Foreign Affairs (OIFA). The event took Nest at the venue of the state news agency Polska Agencja Prasowa and brought together members of the expert communities of Poland and Kazakhstan. Among the participants were Janusz Piechociński, former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Poland; Małgorzata Samojedny, Head of OIFA; Jerzy Olędzki, Board Member of the Michał Boym Institute for Asian and Global Studies; and Sapargali Shalgimbaev, Head of CFive.
Following the discussion, the participants concluded that Kazakhstan demonstrates a steady dynamic of political and socio-economic development, consistently pursuing a course toward the modernization of state institutions and the diversification of the national economy. Expert assessments emphasized the significance of the reforms as a tool to enhance public administration efficiency and strengthen the country's international standing.
The practical outcome of the Warsaw event was the signing of a memorandum of cooperation and understanding between the CFive analytical center under AIU and the Polish research center OIFA. The document provides for the advancement of expert interaction, the execution of joint research and events, and contributes to the further strengthening of the European dimension of CFive's international cooperation.
The events held in Italy and Poland confirmed the sustained interest of European political, expert, and analytical circles in the political modernization processes of Kazakhstan. The participation of CFive representatives as guest speakers on international platforms reflects the growing recognition of the center's expert capacity and the high demand for its analytical assessments abroad.
