On October 5, Astana International University hosted a
meeting with Dr. Dipanjan “DJ” Nag, an international expert in intellectual
property, technology transfer, and venture investment.
Dipanjan Nag is President of InnovAito LLC, a
professor at Rutgers University, and a venture partner at Radix Ventures. For
more than 20 years, he has worked in research commercialization, patent
portfolio evaluation, and the development of innovative projects.
The meeting focused on bringing research outcomes to
market, protecting copyrights, developing technology startups, and
commercializing university research. The participants also discussed the use of
artificial intelligence as an intellectual property asset and a tool for patent
analysis.
The expert explained that when assessing technology
projects, investors pay particular attention to the patent portfolio, scientific
foundation, and market potential of a project. He also emphasized the
importance of securing intellectual property rights at an early stage of
startup development.
Dipanjan Nag shared his international experience and
discussed mechanisms for transforming scientific initiatives into startups and
licensing projects. Under his leadership, more than 80 startups have been
established and over 600 exclusive licensing agreements have been concluded
with industry partners.
Participants received useful information on
commercializing scientific ideas, attracting investment to technology projects,
and managing products effectively. The meeting created new opportunities for
developing research and entrepreneurial initiatives at the University.
